Best BBQ Pulled Pork Sammies

Jack & Coke BBQ sauce coats delicious pulled pork to make the Best BBQ Pulled Pork Sammies ever! Top with crunchy slaw and pickled jalepenos!

Ingredients
  

Pulled Pork
  • 1 large pork shoulder
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • salt
  • pepper
Jack & Coke BBQ Sauce
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 10 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2-3 chipolte in adobe peppers + a tsp or so of the adobe sauce
  • 1/3 cup Jack Daniels
  • 2/3 cup Coca Cola
  • 1/3 cup freshly squeezed orange juice + the zest of one
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
To serve
  • Toasted Buns
  • Pickled Jalepenos
  • Simple Slaw
  • Pickled Red Onions

Method
 

Pulled Pork
  1. Place the pork in a slow cooker with the onion and garlic.
  2. Sprinkle over the smoked paprika and a healthy sprinkle of salt and pepper. Add in the chicken broth.
  3. Turn the slow cooker on low and cook until fork tender for 6-8 hours.
  4. Shred and toss in a pan with the BBQ sauce. Let sauce cook and reduce for a few minutes or so with the shredded pork.
  5. Serve it up on toasted buns with coleslaw, pickled jalepenos, and pickled red onion if you like.
For the BBQ Sauce
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat put in the oil. Add in the onions and saute until soft.
  2. Add in the garlic and cook for about a minute.
  3. Add in the Jack Daniels and let cook for about a minute.
  4. Add in the rest of the ingredients. Let simmer and reduce for awhile. Taste and add a bit of salt and pepper as needed.
